Treasure Hunt/Book Review-The Necromancer

The Necromancer from The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flammel by Michael Scott.

San Francisco:

After fleeing to Ojai, then Paris, and escaping toLondon, Josh and Sophie Newman are finallyhome. And after everything they’ve seen and learned in the past week, they’re both more confused than ever about their future. Neither of them has mastered the magics they’ll need to protect themselves from the Dark Elders, they’ve lost Scatty, and they’re still being pursued by Dr. John Dee. Most disturbing of all, however, is that now they must ask themselves, can they trust NicholasFlamel? Can they trust anyone?

Alcatraz:

Dr. Dee underestimated Perenelle Flamel’s power. Alcatraz could not hold her, Nereus was no match for her, and she was able to align herself with the most unlikely of allies. But she wasn’t the only one being held on the island. Behind the prison’s bars and protective sigils were a menagerie of monsters-an army for Dee to use in the final battle. And now Machiavelli has come to Alcatraz to loose those monsters on San Francisco.

Perenelle might be powerful, but each day she weakens, and even with Nicholas back at her side, a battle of this size could be too much for her. Nicholas and Perenelle must fight to protect the city, but the effort will probably kill them both.

London:

Having been unable to regain the two final pages of the Codex, Dee has failed his Elder and is now an outlaw-and the new prey of all the creatures formerly sent to hunt down Flamel.

But Dee has a plan. With the Codex and the creatures on Alcatraz, he can control the world. All he needs is the help of the Archons. But for his plan to work, he must raise the Mother of the Gods from the dead. For that, he’ll have to train a necromancer. And the twins of legend will make the perfect pupils. . . .

Treasure Hunt/Book Review-Forgotten Locket

The Forgotten Locket by Lisa Mangum. First off I have to apologize for not having this up last week like I said I would. We were out of town and surprisingly didn't have internet. So much for planning ahead. :)

Anyway, WOW! This final book in The Hourglass Door Trilogy was phenomenal. I have been waiting for it, hoping for it and wasn't not at all disappointment. Well, I'm disappointed that the series is over. I feel like Dante and Abby are my friends and I want to know more about what happens in their lives, but to me that says the book/series is unforgettable. Each book got better and I love the way things came together. Lisa uses such beautiful descriptions that I was sucked into the story from the first sentence. This is a book and series I would recommend to anyone and everyone! I can't wait for Lisa's next book.

P.S. Lisa's coming to AZ in July as part of her book tour. Click here to find out when and where!

Here's the back cover blurb.

The future is uncertain. The battle to control the past has begun.

The final book in the riveting Hourglass Door trilogy begins when Abby steps through the black door, and she doesn’t dare look back. Though it means leaving Dante–wounded, bleeding, and possibly blind–she knows it is the only way to save her family and stop Zo from manipulating the river of time and throwing the future into chaos. In the end, Abby must face a final confrontation that will take her to the very origins of the hourglass door.

Treasure Hunt/Work In Progress Wednesday

Well, I'm sort of at a stand still in my writing because time just isn't working on my side. However, we had our ANWA meeting yesterday and one of our members told us about a good writing book called Writing Tools by Roy Peter Clark. I loved the chapter headings and the section she read from the book so I went out and got it. How's this for a heading, Turn Procrastination into Rehearsal (or something close to that). So if I can't be writing, I might as well be reading about writing!
